Alonso’s Home Run Saves Mets, ALDS/NLDS Lineup, Kirk Cousins Sets Franchise Record In Win Over Bucs, Caitlin Clark Wins WNBA Rookie Of Year

BASEBALL

Thanks to a three-run home run in the 9th inning from Pete Alonso, the NY Mets shocked the Milwaukee Brewers to win the NL Wild Card Series and will head to the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Mets 4, Brewers 2

Here is the lineup for the Divisional Series:

ALDS: Yankees vs Royals, Guardians vs Tigers

NLDS: Dodgers vs Padres, Phillies vs Mets

FOOTBALL

On Thursday Night Football, quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for a whopping 509 yards (setting a franchise record) and led the Atlanta Falcons over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 36-30 in a thrilling overtime.

BASKETBALL

To no one’s surprise, Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark won WNBA Rookie of the Year. The vote was almost unanimous, with 66 votes for Clark and one vote for Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese.

MLB 12 Teams In Postseason, Pete Rose Died, Titans And Lions Win On MNF

BASEBALL

As of Monday night, the Atlanta Braves and NY Mets are heading to the postseason. The 12 teams are now set:

In the American League: Yankees, Guardians, Astros, Orioles, Royals and Tigers

In the National League: Dodgers, Phillies, Brewers, Padres, Braves and Mets

Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader Pete Rose died at the age of 83. Even with all of his baseball accomplishments, Rose never made it into the Hall of Fame because he admitted to gambling on MLB games.

FOOTBALL

The Tennessee Titans demolished the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football, the Dolphins third straight loss.

Also on MNF, Detroit Lions running back Jared Goff led the team to a big 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has bilateral Achilles tendinitis (overuse of the Achilles tendon). According to reports, he’s getting treatment in Germany, but there is no word yet on the timing of his recovery.
