FOOTBALL

Jim Harbaugh, who is back in the NFL this season as coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, reached out to Colin Kaepernick about joining his coaching staff. Harbaugh has a history with Kaepernick. Colin quarterbacked the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-1014 when Harbaugh was the team’s head coach. In 2016, Kaepernick became a controversial figure when he began kneeling during the national anthem at NFL games in protest against racial injustice and police brutality. When he became a free agent in 2017, no team would sign him.

In other football news, former Michigan championship quarterback J.J. McCarthy will be out for the entire season after undergoing meniscus surgery. The Minnesota Vikings coach said he was “crushed” by the news.
