Wembanyama Taken #1 & Looking Forward To Breakfast Tacos, Top 5 Includes Twins, Chris Paul To Warriors, Penny Hardaway Suspended
BASKETBALL
To no one’s surprise, the San Antonio Spurs chose Victor Wembanyama with the #1 pick in the NBA draft. When asked at the end of the night what he’s looking forward to the most, the 7′ 5″ French player said”Breakfast tacos…I’ve heard a lot about breakfast tacos.”
The Charlotte Hornets took Alabama freshman Brandon Miller with the #2 pick and Scoot Henderson of the G League Ignite at #3 by the Portland Trail Blazers, Amen Thompson at #4 to the Rockets, and twin brother Ausar Thompson to the Pistons at #5. It’s the first time twins were taken in the top five of the same NBA draft.
In other NBA news, just days after he was traded to the Washington Wizards, Chris Paul is now heading to the Golden State Warriors for Jordan Poole and two future picks. The Wizards also made news by trading Kristaps Porzingis to the Celtics as part of a three-way deal that sends Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies.
In college basketball news, Memphis men’s head coach Penny Hardaway was suspended for the first three games of the 2023-24 season due to recruiting violations.
