Hurts Makes History W/Big Payout, Damar Hamlin Cleared To Play, Draymond Suspended, NBA Combine Rules
FOOTBALL
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts became the highest-paid player in NFL history with a five-year $255 million extension.
Twenty-five-year-old safety Damar Hamlin has been cleared to play with the Buffalo Bills three months after his on-field cardiac arrest during a Monday Night Football game.
BASKETBALL
Draymond Green will serve a suspension after stomping on the chest of Domantas Sabonis during the Warriors-Kings series. The League issued a statement saying the suspension “was based in part on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.” To name a few, Green was suspended during the playoffs in 2016 (hit LeBron James in the groin), and in 2018 Golden State suspended Green for “conduct detrimental to the team” when he had a dust-up with his then-teammate Kevin Durant.
The NBA announced that beginning in 2024, players hoping to be drafted must participate in the NBA Combine, a multi-day event taking place in May before the June draft. In the past, many prospects have skipped this event.
