BASKETBALL
The Brooklyn Nets suspended point guard Kyrie Irving for a minimum of five games without pay for not apologizing for his endorsement of a film that promotes antisemitic tropes (including Holocaust denial). The Nets statement says, we are of the view that he is currently unfit to be associated with the Brooklyn Nets.” And, that his return is “contingent on him [satisfying] a series of objective remedial measures that address the harmful impact of his conduct.” After the ban, Kyrie finally posted an apology on Instagram, but many believe his statement was too little and too late.
In other NBA news, the Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden will be out for a month due to a tendon strain in his right foot.
