Bruce Arians Retiring, Sudden Death Gone, Dalton Signed, NFL Minority Hire Rules, Laser Pointers, Men Qualify For World Cup
FOOTBALL
Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head coach Bruce Arians is retiring and will join the front office. Todd Bowles will replace him. Tom Brady reacted on Instagram by stating, “Thank you, BA for all that you have done for me and our team. You are an incredible man and coach, and it was a privilege to play for you. You are a true NFL legend and pioneer for all the work you have done to make the league more diverse and inclusive.”
The NFL is getting rid of sudden-death overtime in the playoffs. The League approved an overtime rule ensuring both teams get at least one overtime possession.
In NFL player news, the New Orleans Saints signed former Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton to a one-year $6 million deal. Dalton will likely be the backup to Jameis Winston who re-signed for $28 million.
The NFL is now requiring all 32 teams to hire a “female or a member of an ethnic or racial minority” as an offensive assistant for the 2022 season (for a one-year deal paid by the league).
