NHL Fires Ref For Bogus Penalty, Anti-Semitic Audibles, Snyder Spends $1 Bill For 100% Of Team, Lowry Takes Call From Drake, Olympic Torch Lit

HOCKEY

The NHL announced referee Tim Peel would “no longer be working NHL games now or in the future” after he was caught on mic admitting he called an unwarranted penalty because he “wanted to get” a penalty against the Nashville Predators.

FOOTBALL

A high school football coach in Massachusetts was fired for having his team use anti-Semitic slurs such as “rabbi”, “dreidel” and “Auschwitz” while calling audibles.

Washington Football Team owner Daniel Snyder will spend close to $1 billion to buy out his minority partners’ 40% stake in the team.

BASKETBALL

The Toronto Raptors Kyle Lowry took a FacetTime call from the musician Drake during his postgame interview where he spoke about his time in Toronto possibly coming to an end. Lowry has been with the Raptors since 2012, but he will now be an unrestricted free agent with several teams interested in trading for him.

OLYMPICS

The Olympic torch was lit in Tokyo and will begin a 121-day trip across Japan arriving back in Tokyo in time for the July 23rd Opening Ceremonies.
