Christmas Day Games: Sixers Trust Process And Beat Knicks, KD Overpowers LeBron

BASKETBALL

The Philadelphia 76ers celebrated Christmas Day with a big win over the New York Knicks. It was their first Christmas Day game in 16 years, and they made the most of it with  Joel Embiid’s 25 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists. When Embiid scored a 3-pointer in the 4th quarter, some in the crowd started chanting “Trust the Process”, which has been the rallying cry for the team for the past few years. Not everyone enjoyed the honor of playing on Christmas Day. The Sixers J.J. Redick, who posted 24 points for his team, told reporters after the game,  “I’d like to take this opportunity to once again say for I believe the 10th time, I’m not a fan of playing on Christmas. I wish we had this holiday for our families. I understand we are entertainers, we have to provide this for all the basketball fans out there.” Redick played on Christmas Day last year as part of the Los Angeles Clippers.   Sixers 105, Knicks 98.

Members of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors have been celebrating Christmas Day on the court for the past 3 years. Clearly Kevin Durant doesn’t have a problem playing on the 25th. After a monstrous game where he contained the mighty LeBron and recorded 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks, he said, “There’s just so much joy in the arena today because it’s Christmas and we all feed off of that.” Warriors 99, Cavs 92.
