OLYMPICS

Simone ManuelSimone Manuel made history Thursday with a gold medal in the 100 meter freestyle. Manuel tied Canada’s Penny Oleksiak and became the first African American female swimmer to win an individual gold medal.

To no one’s surprise, Michael Phelps won again. In the 200 meter individual medley, Phelps made his win look easy with a 1.95 second margin of victory. In swimming, that’s a huge gap. Phelps now has 22 gold medals to his name.

Simone Biles and Aly Raisman earned gold and silver respectively in the gymnastic individual all around. After tying for 3rd (and losing out in the tie-breaker to miss the bronze medal) in the 2012 Olympics, Raisman burst into tears after her floor routine, knowing she had secured the silver.
